Online Information Bulletin

Versione italiana

1 January 2011

The Online Information Bulletin (OIB) is a new initiative of the Planning Studies Centre consisting of five sections:

Events and activities
Journals
Books of interest
Papers of interest
Research institutions in the spotlight

Information networks on Planning Studies

Events and activities

Update quarterly, the “Events and Activities” section of the Online Information Bulletin will highlight news received by the Planning Studies Centre, which may be of interest to scholars of the “Planning Sciences” (or “Planology”). The Centre cannot be held responsible for any imprecision, error or inconvenience, which may be derived from the information, of which the Bulletin is only a diffusion medium.
As the bulletin is quarterly, it is not possible to publish all events before they occur, in all cases where the event is not announced ex ante at least 3 months in advance. It has been decided to publish equally, an ex post note of an event and of its modalities to offer a panorama of some activities developed of interest for the special aims of the Centre.

Journals

The “Journal” section of the Information Bulletin includes those journals that, in the vast field of Public Economics, Political Science, Town-Planning, Regional Science, Operative Research, Systems Engineering, Forecast Science, Administrative Science, Environmental Science, etc., are particularly characterised as being directed towards - in a trans-disciplinary way - integrated, systemic and strategic Planning. Naturally, the screening of these journals will only be possible within the limits of their reception on behalf of the staff of the Planning Studies Centre.

Books of Interest

The section “Books of interest” of the Online Information Bulletin of the Planning Studies Centre will include the abstracts of those books of possible and specific interest for the scholar of “Planning Sciences” (or Planology) that have been selected and received by the Centre. For some books, according to the staff's assessment, the abstracts will be complemented by a Review.
The classification of the abstracts of the books presented follows approximately the two first digits of the Planology Code established by the Planning Sciences Information System (PSIS) of the PSC.
Some of the books here registered are not very recent publications, even if they are all still in trade. The registration has followed the scientific considerations of the staff of the Planning Studies Centre, and if some books – normally all received by request of the PSC – have been assessed to be of particular interest by the staff, the criterion of noting only very recently published books has not been rigidly applied.
These bibliographic references express the scope of the PSC in all its limits, especially from the information point of view. The staff solicits other collaborators of the PSC and readers of the Bulletin to let them know about new books which deserve to be announced and possibly reviewed in this Bulletin.
